NITF (News Industry Text Format)NITF uses XML to define the structure and content of news articles (text and statistical data). It identifies structural pieces such headlines, bylines, paragraphs, table columns and footnotes. The subjects covered by the content may be indicated through the use of IPTC subject codes. Rich in-line markup can be applied to specify such things as organizations, events, places and people. Because metadata tags are applied throughout the news content, NITF documents are more searchable and useful than HTML pages. NITF documents, like other news data may be contained within, or referenced from, a NewsML wrapper. Associations
