PDOM (Persistent DOM)

PDOM is a Concept rather than a specific API or Data Format. While DOM defines a standardized API for accessing XML documents, PDOM is a concept for storing the in-memory information of the DOM Tree on a persistent Storage Medium. Typically, PDOM implementations use a binary and indexed Data Format, and provide a DOM-like API, which can be used to access this Data Format. However, the specific Data Format used for PDOM varies and has not been standardized.
