Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity)

Wi-Fi is a label for devices conforming to the IEEE 802.11b standard for WLAN. The IEEE 802.11b standard has been published by the IEEE, which does not perform conformance testing. In order to establish such a conformance testing process, the Wi-Fi Alliance (formerly known as WECA) has been formed, which tests devices for conformance with the IEEE 802.11b standard and issues the Wi-Fi label for conforming devices.
