WML (Wireless Markup Language)

WML is the Hypertext Format for WAP1. WML is based on XML (it is formally defined by an XML DTD). WML pages can be stored on any HTTP Server, which will be contacted by a WAP1 Gateway and deliver the WML page. The WAP1 Gateway then transforms the WML page into WBXML, which is then transmitted to the WAP1 device. WML is similar to HTML in its design, and WAP1 also defines WMLScript which may be used to implement dynamic WML.
