1 HTML and CSS To Fruition Tuesday, September 7th, 2010 Monday, September 20th, 2010 In this assignment, you will create a valid HTML+CSS Web page representing an Online Portfolio. The goals of this assignment are to set up a Web server, become familiar with HTML and CSS, and enforce good coding practices.
2 Geolocation and Google Maps Thursday, September 23rd, 2010 Wednesday, October 6th, 2010 The goal of this assignment is to create and embed a map in your homepage that shows your current location, and create and embed a map that shows your Flickr photo stream. For this, you will use the Google Maps API.
3 Offline and Local Storage Tuesday, October 19th, 2010 Monday, October 25th, 2010 The goal of this assignment is to create an application that is offline capable and utilizes localStorage.
4 Security and Internationalization Thursday, October 28th, 2010 Thursday, November 4th, 2010 The goal of this assignment is to create a simple HTTP authentication and learn about the importance of Internationalization (I18N) in Web design.
5 Working with Feeds Thursday, November 4th, 2010 Thursday, November 11th, 2010 In this assignment, we will work with the Yahoo! Query Language (YQL) and/or Yahoo! Pipes to produce enriched feed(s).
6 Exploring and Building a more Semantic Web Thursday, November 11th, 2010 Thursday, November 18th, 2010 The idea of the Semantic Web promises to create a Web where information is more easily interpreted and exchanged. In this assignment, you will examine some of the efforts behind the Semantic Web, will generate some simple examples of rich Web content, and will discuss some of the concepts behind the Semantic Web.
