The Connected Traveler: Using Location and Personalization on Mobile Devices to Improve Transportation

In this paper we present the connected traveler architecture that allows mobile users to personalize the delivery of transportation related content. The widespread use of mobile devices and the increasing availability of wireless Internet present an opportunity for transportation engineers to deliver mobility and safety content to the drivers, pedestrians, and public transit users. enables this technology by combining the location of the mobile user with pre-defined personalized profiles to improve user experience.
