PGO (Profile-Guided Optimization)

PGO is a Technology which is used in Compilers to produce optimized code. In contrast to more general optimization techniques which are based on the source code alone, PGO is using the results of test runs of the code (which is based on test input data called "profiles") to better optimize the generated code. If the profiles are carefully chosen, PGO can produce much better optimization results than general optimization techniques.
